Dropbox launched a version of his paper called application for iOS and Android devices, software that allows users to collaborate on documents stored on Dropbox cloud in real time. At the same time, Dropbox has launched Smart Sync, a new feature that prevents local download of files stored on the cloud.
Dropbox Paper was launched in 2015 in private beta, then in August 2016, the beta has been open to all users who want to try out the software, which since January 31, 2017 is now available for everyone in the stable version (no more 'in beta) via downloadable app from the Play Store for Android devices or from the App Store for iOS devices.
"We built Dropbox Paper to help users collaborate on documents themselves and share important information. It is a big part of how we are revisiting the way in which people work together" Dropbox wrote in a post on his blog when he announced 'Paper .
Dropbox Paper allows groups of people to create, edit and view shared documents. It can 'considered as the equivalent of Google Docs and Microsoft Word Online, but with perhaps feature more' limited.
Users who tried Paper in beta have created more than one million documents and have provided a lot of feedback Dropbox to resolve bugs and integrate functionality. Before the launch of the final version were made improvements by adding things like advanced tools and image galleries; Desktop notifications, web and mobile; and a powerful search engine to help users quickly find the documentation they need. New mobile applications Paper allow you to get updates on projects, make changes at any time and anywhere.
Smart Dropbox Sync
Smart Dropbox Sync is a feature that in recent months, under development, was called Project Infinite, and is born with the aim of making the synchronization of files on more 'much simpler devices, even if you do not have disk space drive device.
Before the launch of Smart Sync, Dropbox on PC it allows the user to activate the synchronization of all files between desktop and cloud storage, which could require you to have a lot of free hard disk space. With Smart Sync, it becomes instead can choose which files to keep only on the cloud space and download them locally on your computer or Mac thanks to the option "save in the local copy."
As you can see in the video below and made by Dropbox to show a preview of the new function, the files you choose not to synchronize your PC or MAC, but to maintain cloud are shown with the icon of a cloud next, while the locally synchronized files are also accompanied by the sign of a green check mark (the same one that you actually see). When you want to access the file, just double-click it, and the file will be downloaded from the network and open (logically need to be connected to the Internet). To download a file on PC instead just select the affected file (or folder) and choose "save in the local copy."
