BT and AWS will focus on networking, security, and managed services to increase corporate cloud adoption.
BT announced a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), a move aimed at strengthening its leadership position in cloud services and helping companies leverage the benefits of AWS in both the UK and the rest of the world .
The announcement is also a significant step in the evolution of BT's Cloud Cloud Clouds strategy, which provides secure connections to the applications and data they need. It should also be considered that as AWS Partner Network's Consulting Partner, BT already links many AWS cloud multinational organizations.
Today's announcement further develops collaboration between BT and AWS, focusing on networking, security and managed cloud services. The agreement also includes the launch of new customer initiatives, such as BT's 'hybrid cloud landing zone', as well as research and innovation activities in the field of network services evolution and an integrated approach to security in the cloud.
The overall goal, the company observed, is to improve global AWS usage for enterprise customers and to accelerate adoption of the cloud.
The hybrid cloud landing zone
BT's hybrid cloud landing zone is a market proposal that includes an integrated set of tools and models to deliver cloud solutions.
It will consist of projects ready for use for the implementation of the hybrid cloud according to best practices, in different geographic areas and different cloud environments, in particular AWS.
Predefined projects can leverage the overall dimension of BT's network, security expertise, and the functionality of managed services to give customers greater visibility and control over their entire infrastructure.
BT will use virtualized components to implement flexible pre-embedded security connectivity, enabling business customers to have greater deployment speeds and optimize overall cloud performance. The early adoption phase will open in the first half of 2018.
Integrated security
BT and AWS also collaborate on an integrated security approach to extend existing security controls to the cloud and support them in compliance.
In this regard, BT will create a catalog of embedded network security services, anti-DDoS and threat intelligence available on the AWS Marketplace.
In the near future, services will also include identity and access management through the evolution of end-to-end security services.
On BT, AWS already has a dedicated Cyber Security Platform for a multinational client and is working closely with AWS to make it a standardized and replicable offer for all customers.
