At Microsoft, a new internal reorganization, of men and divisions, is taking shape to bring forward and strengthen CEO Satya Nadella's vision of the future of Windows and of the company in general. To leave will be Terry Myerson, veteran of the company of Redmond, with 21 years of service and until today head of the Windows & Devices division. To replace him will be Rajesh Jha, coming from LinkedIn and until yesterday manager of the Office division, which will have the important task of developing a more homogeneous and consistent user experience - or "a unifying ethos of products" as it has called Nadella - between Windows, Office and third-party apps.

However, this is not a simple turnaround at the top but a deeper reorganization, which involves both the internal company structure and the men in charge, but above all the vision that will guide the future development of all Microsoft products.

In a document intended for employees, Nadella spoke about "intelligent cloud and intelligent edge". "The experiences of use of the computing world are evolving, coming to include multiple senses and are no longer linked to the use of one device at a time, but involve several as we move from home to work and in mobility ", added Nadella. "Our users' current needs, habits and expectations drive us to offer a more consistent and coherent Microsoft 365-style user experience for Windows, Office and third-party apps."

In short, One Windows is getting closer and closer and gradually becomes more concrete and more defined. The image of Microsoft 365, which cites Office 365, speaks to us of services and no longer products, subscriptions and no more purchases, the Internet of Things, augmented reality, cloud and artificial intelligence.

The interpenetration between these two areas in particular appears even clearer when examining the new divisions and the men who will be in charge of them. We already said about Jha. Scott Guthrie, currently head of one of the most profitable divisions of Microsoft, Azure and cloud, will see unified under him also the business structure that currently deals with IA, with the obvious purpose of making all products more "smart" and integrated between their. Panos Panay, on the other hand, has been promoted to the Chief Product Officer by the Surface division in the hope that it will be able to bring that same ability to innovate within a wider range of products. Phil Spencer instead will continue to take care of the Xbox and Joe Belfiore of the experience of using Windows.

In short, after the unification work done at the kernel and interface level, as explained some time ago, Microsoft is preparing to work on the same goal: providing many integrated services based on cloud and artificial intelligence, able to offer the same experience 'use regardless of whether you are on desktops, notebooks, tablets or smartphones, even iOS or Android thanks to the many apps and services developed by Microsoft. On paper it seems a winning and functional idea, all that remains is to see its practical application.
